ABOUT US

Who we are
We are a Christian medical organization, committed to serving the Lord by taking care of the needy and standing beside the broken to share the love of Christ and obey his great commission. Meeting the needy with their medical as well as Spiritual needs and sharing the Good news of love and grace. Our Inspirational verse is according to Mathew 25:34-40 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

What we do

We conduct free medical camps in the villages where there is no or little access to medical aid and provide them with free medical check up, free medicines and even major operations for free. These camps are arranged in the local churches where all the villagers would gather and receive their spiritual as well as medical needs. We have 10 pastors and 10 medical staff working with us who are committed to helping these villagers receive spiritual and medical help.

Where we Located

We are located in a small town called payakaraopeta in the state of Andhra Pradesh which is in Southern India. The centre of our organization is in tuni which is surrounded by 100 rural villages having a population of 2 million. About 50 % of these villages live under below poverty line and hardly have access to medical aid.

History:

Eye Openers India was started in 1996 by Dr Kumar and Rev Phil Melton with a vision to help the rural population in and around tuni with medical aid. Dr Kumar, being an Ophthalmic surgeon served in the mission from past 25 years. He served in a Christian Mission Hospital from 1982 to 1994 in Sompeta which is 500 km away from our present centre in tuni. And after that obeying his vision to serve tuni and surrounding area, he came to tuni and started Eye Openers Hospital which became a well known organization in and around tuni. This Organization is serving more than 50 villages and reaching out to more than 500,000 people.
Rev Phil Melton who is a missionary to seki in Japan has been partnering with Eye Openers since 2001 and is a co- founder of Eye Openers. Pastor Phil has been supporting our ministry through prayers and financially, he also partnered with us with his team in conducting medical camps.

Eye Openers is expanding its medical help in these rural villages in and around tuni. The goal of Eye Openers is to reach to the remaining 50 villages in and around tuni and also open new centers in other Provinces in Andhra Pradesh. Dr David Moore who is also an ophthalmic surgeon from
Australia came forward to partner with Eye Openers and since 2005 when he first visited Eye Openers he is being a partner to this ministry and also is an director of Eye Openers Australia. Eye Openers is not only limiting itself to medical and spiritual aid but also wants to provide education to the rural kids which we believe will empower families and help them stand on their own feet.
